Hello, loves.

This is the post excerpt.

Welcome to my blog: missmiralee ❤

My name is Samira Lee Valdez. Many of my family & friends call me, Mira.  I am so excited to share with you this little piece of inspiration outside of my professional job as a Registered Nurse. I wanted to start this blog in hopes to inspire you all with my creative outlook on: fashion & beauty, home decorative finds, as well as health and wellness goals through my personal experiences. I love sharing my inspirations because it’s a way to connect and engage with others while simultaneously cleaning out the corners of the mind where stress and anxiety like to hide. In turn, this fills those negative spaces with creative energies.  Get creative with your life. You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.

♥♥♥ Your candle burned out long before, your legend never did♥♥♥IMG_1376

I mean, who doesn’t love a good candle. I wanted to incorporate the subject of candles especially around the holidays because they make beautiful gifts and can captivate your family and friends  attention during social gatherings. I have featured my top 5 candles in all different price ranges that literally will give you all the feels:

price: 30.00 19oz size, 22.00 8 oz size.

AMAZING candle. This aroma will fill your house with such an amazing scent. It gives a fragrance that is so totally worth the pricey price tag because it’s a candle that actually will last. I burned this candle down to the wick, and I got about 3-4 months with it.

The Capri site features an excellent blog on their site: Candles 101 explaining how to get the best use out of this candle: I will post a little excerpt below from the Capri site. Definitely check it out! I know $30.00 for a candle is kind of expensive, but it makes a beautiful gift and you won’t be disappointed by the scent and quality.

Here are a few easy steps to make sure you’re getting the most out of your favorite candle:

NO.Always allow your candle to completely liquefy across the top before blowing it out to avoid tunneling

Think of it this way – candles have a memory. Wherever it stops burning the first time, it will continue to stop there every time you burn it causing it to tunnel if it has not liquefied all the way across.

NO.2 Always keep your wick trimmed to ¼”

And remember to trim your wick before the first burn, too.

Candle Burning 101

NO.3Don’t drop debris, like matches or wick trimmings, into the wax

NO.4Don’t place your burning candle on sensitive or uneven surfaces

And, of course, never leave your burning candle unattended.

NO.5Discontinue burning your candle when about ½” of wax remains

Don’t fret. It’s normal and necessary to have a little wax leftover so that you don’t expose the bottom of the wick.

NO.6 Repurpose that beauty!

Our containers are designed for reuse, so don’t let that gorgeous vessel go to waste! For tips and tricks on re-purposing our fab jars see here.

So the next time you go to light your favorite candle remember these simple tips and let Capri Blue do the rest 😉

Capri Blue Iridescent Jar Candle

All you Anthropologie lovers MUST know about their amazing VOLCANO candle selections. This little beauty is my go-to candle. I am OBSESSED. The scent this candle burns is a LIFE CHANGER! It actually breaks my heart to burn it because it’s simply so beautiful. I love the shimmery iridescent jar. I basically just want to keep it lit for hours on end. What I love about it the most is that you can reuse the jar to organize earrings, or put little trinkets in it. You could even plant a little succulent in there!

Capri Blue’s iconic vessels and fragrances – proudly designed and poured in Mississippi – are a long-standing favorite at Anthropologie. The line pairs striking visuals with intoxicating scents to create beautifully aromatic products like soy-blended candles and vegan-formulated beauty care.

Volcano: tropical fruits, sugared oranges, lemons and limes, redolent with lightly exotic mountain greens (FRESH)

  • 85-hour burn time
  • Paraffin-soy wax blend

DW HOME: Maple Pumpkin

This was my absolute FAVORITE fall candle. I know all the FALL FEELS have subsequently faded out of our memories now that it’s December and now everyone wants to smell Frosted Cranberry or Christmas Cookie scents, but this was a super affordable candle I found at TJMAXX for 6.99. This candle burned forever! Everyone that came into my home complimented the smell of this candle. It’s a great candle and for an affordable price tag.

Rich maple, caramelized sugar, and honeyed pancake batter combine with roasted pumpkin and toasted nuts.

Single Wick Tin

Medium Single Wick

Large Double Wick
Burn Time: Approx. 56 hours | Dimensions: 4″ x 4″ x 5.25″ | Weight: 2.6 lbs

This candle is another TJ MAXX find. I tried to find the candle online, but it looks like this brand was originally sold out, and now perhaps discontinued, but they sell this candle line in all different scents at TJ MAXX for a great price. I paid 8.99 for this beauty! I love the wood design on the cap of the candle. It’s a very beach-like, Florida scent… perfect for a beach-style home. It’s made with essential oils! Such a peaceful candle scent if you are looking for that “spa-like” aroma to relax your mood.

DW HOME: 1996 Rosemary + Watermelon Crystal Candle

This candle gives me all the feels! Like, seriously… how much cuter can you get with the crystal gem on the top. I am obsessed with this one, and AGAIN this line can be found at my favorite bargain store- TJ MAXX. I highly suggest this line of candles. They are affordable and come in such beautiful jars! If you can’t afford those 30.00 volcano ones, these are a great alternative. I paid 7.99 for this gem! When I found it on the DW website it retails for $18.99.  {side note: I literally am like the TJ MAXX guru. I love to find top of the line items for bargain prices.}

Shimmering spring water splashes over the juicy summer watermelon and green honeydew, enhanced with aromatic hints of crushed rosemary.

Large Double Wick

Burn Time: 50 hours | Dimensions: 4.25″ x 5″ | Fill Weight: 13.2 oz

Hope you guys enjoyed reading this little piece about candles that in•spire my life. Let me know if you try any of them out and enjoy them as much as I do. ♥

Start Today Journal. The Realest Resolution.

Who is tired of stopping & starting goals>>> Ummm, MEEEEEE, right here ya’ll, I’ll admit it whole heartily.

Seriously I have become a huge follower of Rachel Hollis, the well known author of, “Girl, wash your face.” I also have been enjoying following her RISE PODCAST. She speaks so many volumes of truth about goal setting and how the constant roller coaster of starting and stopping of these goals can be so discouraging and devour your self worth. One perfect example of this “yo-yo” effect is like every new year- everyone and their momma jumps up to get after it at the gym @ 5am after new years day, and then by April you literally see 1 car in the parking lot of LA Fitness. I am so tired of this repetitive way of living. Its like waxing & weaning your way through life, and I personally have had enough…

I, 100%… am a habitual offender of this… and this is the first time in my life that I  just want to stop making excuses, and make the goals I set up for myself a reality. It’s like Rachel says, “it’s time to take those dreams you have and put some work boots on them.”  Time to make them actual ACCOMPLISHED GOALS! Prime example, my husband and I started the Whole30 journey a few months ago, and in two weeks, I stopped because I was going out of town. Why did I even start if I couldn’t finish in the first place, UGH! Looking back, this makes me fume. Those two weeks were full of meal prepping, IG video stories of me cooking and encouraging others to join me, and countless trips to Publix— and then only to just STOP and reintroduce all the things I was depriving myself of those 2 weeks. Was it fear that made me stop? Fear of not accomplishing something can be scary. I think owning up to the failure of a goal is gut wrenching, but you’ve gotta own it.  I am tired of jumping on and off the band wagon. It’s time to make some moves here. I am more inspired now than ever.

Today is the first day I started the Start Today Journal. Rachel features this movement of taking action on her RISE, Podcast. Im using my own spiral notebook, nothing fancy. I  have become inspired by her motivation, and felt like it was certainly worthy of posting it here, after all,  my first dream on my list was to 1. Start my Blog, it starts with 1 dream, and 1 step. The approach is simple- just take it 1 dream and 1 step at a time, and always continue to have gratitude.

Fancy Hair, Don’t Care…

Have you guys ever heard of amika Products? Seriously my favorite shampoo/ conditioner combo. My sister, Krystina is a well-known hair stylist locally here in Jacksonville, FL and swares by this product, and well… I totally, 100% agree! This line of product smells absolutely AMAZING. I love the texture that it leaves my hair. After use, the body of my hair feels sleek, smooth & it has helped hydrate my damaged ends from the magical wand… AKA:  the hair straightener. You can purchase these products online through amika, or @ Foiled Rotten Salon here locally in Jacksonville, FL. Aside from amika products being absolutely amazing, their adorable packaging with the vibrant colors give you, SERIOUSLY… all the feels, making this product a TOP FAVORITE of mine, and certainly on my beauty counter list. You can receive 15% off your first order if you go to their website.

“Amika products are like a good friend – straightforward, dependable, and fun to spend time with. We are kind-of obsessed with this “superfruit” Sea Buckthorn Berry, so we include it in every haircare and styling product.”

sea · buck · thorn · berry

/ ˈsē – ˈbək – thȯrn – ber-ē /

These products are vegetarian-friendly, cruelty-free
and free from sulfates, MIT, MCI, phthalates
and artificial colors. LOVE THAT!!

** BARGAIN SHOPPER ALERT** I’ve actually found this product at TJ MAXX, including shampoo/conditioner, hair spray,  mouse, dry shampoo, and blow dry spray,  for low, low prices**

(You guys will learn how much I LOVE TJ MAXX. That place is like the staple to my existence for literally EVERYTHING. I will frequently refer to my obsession with TJ MAXX in many of my blog features)

The second feature I’ve shown above for my hair care post include:  TELETIES: Here are some FAQs about the product featured from their website:

  1. What are TELETIES?
TELETIES are revolutionary strong-grip, no-rip hair ties that will transform your hair in more ways than one. Versatile, elevated, functional and stylish, we know TELETIES will be just as life changing for you as they have been for us!
  2. What are TELETIES made of?
TELETIES are made with an eco-friendly, TPU material that’s both antibacterial and waterproof.
  3. How big are the ties?
The large size is 6.5cm wide x 1cm tall The small size is 4.5cm wide x 0.5cm tall
  4. Will they stretch out?
Our flexible TELETIES are designed to be versatile, stretching over your wrist, ponytails, and hair buns. Over time, you might see a slight loss of elasticity, which is a small side effect of our “no-rip” material. But no worries…TELETIES are completely shrinkable if they do ever stretch out; simply place them out in the sun, in a dish filled with hot water. The heat will cause the material in your TELETIES to shrink back to its original size. Please note** if your TELETIE is twisted, it will not go back to shape if you place in water. Please ensure it is the correct shape before placing in water.
  5. What type of hair will TELETIES work on?
TELETIES will work in all types of hair! Since the material is flexible, yet holds well, TELETIES are ready to take on the thickest, thinnest, and curliest of hair!
  6. What is your shipping policy?
Flat rate shipping is available for $2.75 on all orders within the United States. All packages are shipped via USPS, unless otherwise notated. We provide free shipping on all orders over $30. You can expect your order to ship within 24-48 hours after it is placed and to receive it within 3-5 business days after it is shipped. All orders received on Saturday and Sunday will be processed on the following business day. We currently do not offer expedited shipping, but please check back in the future as this policy may change.
  7. What methods of payment do you take?
We currently securely take Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. All transactions are processed securely under https protocol.
  8. Do you charge sales tax?
Yes, we charge sales tax on orders shipped to addresses in the state of Florida.

Who ever invented these little gems deserves a royal crown, like seriously ( why didn’t I think of this, it’s complete genius.) They are super cute as accessories on your wrist, or of course their true purpose served in your hair for a good work out at the gym or a barre class. They do not break away hair like those terrible black rubber bands. HIGHLY RECOMMEND grabbing some of these. Not only are they just simply adorable to wear, but purchasing them actually serves a HUGE MISSION. This  actually hits very close to home for me. I am  carrier of the + BRCA 1 genetic mutation, which means I have a terrible chance of developing breast or ovarian cancer than the  average general population.  I will certainly be purchasing these bands for the rest of my life. I love that with each purchase, a donation is made to this non-profit organization FORCE (as described in detail below.) This absolutely makes me adore this product even more. WHAT A MISSION!!!!

Here at TELETIES, our tagline says it all. We are the ‘Strong-grip, No-rip Hair Tie That Gives Back!”

Did you know with each TELETIES purchase, a donation is made to FORCE (Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered)? FORCE is a non-profit organization that aims toward improving the lives of people and families affected by hereditary breast, ovarian and related cancers.

Millions of people possess a genetic mutation that increases their risk for these cancers and are completely unaware. Each child of a parent with a mutation has a 50% chance of inheriting this mutation. Early detection is key and can help those affected live longer, healthier lives.

Our TELETIES founder, Lindsay, understands firsthand how important non-profit organizations like FORCE can be in providing resources and early detection. She was tested at a young age because her father carried the BRCA1 mutation and thankfully tested negative. Having never met her grandmother who passed away from breast cancer at the age of 40, Lindsay promised herself that she would do her part to educate others and bring awareness to the BRCA1 mutation. Partnering with such an impactful organization is important to Lindsay and gives proof to the TELETIES mission of upholding a resilient product while giving back to our community.

  1. Girl, wash your face by: Rachel Hollis
  2. You are a Badass by: Jen Sincero
  3. A Simple Favor by: Darcy Bell

IMG_2830 2

  1.  Girl, wash your face, literally should be the holy grail of all self-help books. THIS BOOK gave me all the feels!  It will give you so much inspiration if you are seeking to flourish and live an authentic and fulfilled life as a strong woman.  Author, Rachel Hollis is the perfect mentor/ life coach in this inspiring book.  I feel like she could literally be my best friend. She is absolutely hilarious and her tone and perception in this book have truly impacted me personally when it comes to my own self worth & confidence even on this journey to starting my  first blog. She made me feel like it’s totally normal to feel like you don’t have your life 100% figured out, even in your mid 30’s or 40’s, and that is COMPLETELY OKAY! She is fearlessly honest, and her humor in this book really helps you to understand so many misconceptions you may be having when it comes to life and the challenges that can be thrown at you. I love how she explores her own experiences and stories- you will see you can so easily relate to the roller coasters of emotions she has in careers, motherhood,  marriage, friendships, health, social media. It’s an exceptional read and I highly recommend it if you are looking for that motivational read.
  2. You are a BADASS, also another great motivational book.  I was reading a lot of mixed reviews about this one. However, I personally enjoyed this read, but I am also a person who is not battling depression and generally have been pretty positive and optimistic most my entire life, no matter what life throws at me; thats not to say I don’t have days where my emotions can get the best of me, we are all human, but this book really gave me motivation to 1. play the part to get the part 2. Open yourself up to the world, and don’t be afraid to fail. 3. Just live an AWESOME LIFE.  The author, Jen Sincero writes in a very digestible way to her readers, but if you are looking for the “unicorns and rainbows” approach, you wont find it in her book. I feel like her approach is the tough love kind. Some reviews I read felt that this book was very “triggering” for those with clinical depression and that the author gives off the mentality of:  ” Well, why don’t you just stop being depressed” Personally for me, I was able to ignore the parts that I didn’t necessarily connect with, but if you are battling depression, the over all consensus I felt after reading many reviews was this may not be the book for you, but again, to each to their own. I suggest it to those who are looking for motivation to bring greatness in your life with your personal goals and stop doubting yourself.
  3. A Simple favor, This book is a super good thriller with lots of twists and turns. The novel is by Darcey Bell and centers around the characters: HERE IS THE PLOT:  Stephanie ( played by Anna Kendrick in the movie) a single-mom blogger who seeks to uncover the truth behind her  “questionable” best friend Emily’s (Blake Lively in the film) disappearance in a small town in Connecticut.  The story is told through Stephanie, Emily, and Emilys husband, Sean. The characters are very intriguing; Stephanie portrays as this “know it all” helicopter  Mom who has it all together, kind of very opinionated on the do’s and don’ts with motherhood, she is a blogger and seems like she doesn’t have a big social life aside from her blog. She is a stay at home Mom. Emily is very opposite of  Stephanie, she is married, rather glamorous and is a working Mom with a high powered, fancy job and lifestyle. The main bond they share are their kids are the same age and go to school together and go to each others homes for playdates with the kids, and socialize over wine, which is when they become friends. Then, Emily asks Stephanie for a “simple favor” one day, to pick her son up from school. Days later, Emily still hasn’t come home or contacted Stephanie. Stephanie is completely wrecked over her disappearance,  even blogging to her audiences to please help keep a look out and find her missing best friend. Stephanie continues to dig deep into Emily’s secrets as she seeks to uncover the truth to her disappearance. As time goes on, the plot thickens as  Stephanie gets close with Emily’s husband, Sean, as they are both emotionally distraught over Emily’s disappearance. It’s a super intriguing and suspenseful read, making you feel like you cannot trust any one of the characters, as the story unravels a triad of dysfunction.

What better way to officiate my first blog post just a couple days shy of literally the BEST. HOLIDAY. EVER. Thanksgiving! These last few months have been a complete whirlwind and have given me a lot of reasons to be thankful for my life and the people in it. My husband, Bobby, just received a liver transplant at the end of September. Long story short, he suffered from a rare liver disorder called Budd-Chiari Syndrome, which was caused by a blood clotting disorder he was diagnosed with called: Polycythemia Vera. He was on the transplant list for 2 1/2 years. We definitely were blind sided by the call, as it came as a huge surprise to us,  but the match was perfect and he has been recovering amazingly well ever since. It has been almost 2 months since he had the surgery. I often find myself pondering a lot, especially as we embark closer to Thanksgiving, wondering who the individual was that granted my husband his second chance of life. It’s a very hard concept to grasp, that in someone else’s loss, we gained the most precious gift we could ever ask for, and that was a chance for Bobby to live his life again without progressive suffering and worsening of his disease. I am so thankful for this precious gift he received and I couldn’t be more grateful to get to celebrate this Thanksgiving in honor of who ever it was that decided to be an organ donor, (or his/her family) for making the decision to donate life. My favorite part of Thanksgiving is being surrounded by all the family and friends, and getting to enjoy the best kinds of therapy foods. Bobby loves to cook, and honestly cooking is what has really kept him going through this journey. I felt it was important to share this because, it’s such a beautiful journey to be thankful for. We hope in a year we can connect with the family of the donor and be able to thank them for giving us this beautiful gift, and we  will continue celebrate and be thankful for their loved one every single day of our lives. #donatelife

Welcome to my Blog:

What I love about sharing creativity is that it’s something that cannot be measured. Every day, most of us go to work, and on some level we are expected to contribute some kind of measurement of success to that company, service, or customer. I think that is what has inspired me to start this blog because by sharing this part of myself is a way to positively reinforce behaviors and skills that I hope will better serve my community, not necessarily as a business gain, but on an individual level of being admired and respected.
